I worked at Leo Burnett to create an innovative launch for ‘Cocaine Unwrapped’, a Dartmouth Films documentary by Rachel Seifert about the cocaine industry.
On launch night we held a white carpet event at the Prince Charles Cinema on Leicester Square with a Q&A session involving guest speakers: Ariel Moutsatsos (Head of Public Affairs at the Mexican Embassy), Mike Trace (Chairman of the International Drug Policy Consortium and the former deputy UK drug tsar) and Grace Livingstone of the Latin American Bureau and author of ‘Inside Colombia: Drugs, Democracy and War’ and chaired by Sir Ian Kennedy, Chair of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.
The day after launch it became You Tube's second most downloaded movie.
The sound design was played in the darkness of the cinema, to introduce the subject matter before the film started. It was then adapted into a radio commercial to promote the launch of Cocaine Unrwapped.com. This won the award for best sound design at the Music & Sound Awards, was shortlisted at Kinsale Shark Awards and received a Leo Burnett GPC 8 Ball.
The film artwork was used as outdoor, cinema interior and on the film release's DVD cover.
We also folded paper copies of the artwork to create cocaine wraps with information about the film and left them on seats and in the toilets of the cinema.
